The Black Cat Agency is a UK-based children’s book agency. We represent publishers from various countries, including Turkey, Italy, Spain, Argentina, and Colombia, and sell their rights worldwide.

Founded in early 2020, our agency has since sold translation rights in more than 40 languages. Each year, we publish two catalogues: a spring catalogue ahead of the Bologna Book Fair and an autumn catalogue before the Frankfurt Book Fair.

We choose to represent books we love—those with outstanding writing, compelling subjects, and stunning illustrations. Our list is carefully curated to be as diverse as possible, featuring a wide range of themes and illustration styles. Alongside picture books and early readers, we also represent middle-grade titles. For all the books we represent, we provide high-quality full English translations. Bringing the books we love to readers around the world is our passion.

We also proudly serve as co-agents for a distinguished selection of international publishers within the Turkish market. Our partners include Magic Cat and Pushkin Press from the UK; Camelozampa, Carthusia, Coccinella/Salani, and White Star from Italy; Zahori Books, Asterisc Agents, and Sarganata from Spain; Birds of a Feather Agency and By Rights Agency from Portugal; Helvetiq from Switzerland; Planeta Latin America; and Oratia Media from New Zealand. We strive to connect outstanding books with the most suitable publishers in Turkey with a dedicated team.

Each year, we attend major industry events, including the Bologna, London, and Frankfurt Book Fairs, as well as the Guadalajara Book Fair and the Sharjah Publishers Conference. In addition to these, we take part in fellowship programs and travel globally for business meetings.
